If you have ever seen someone merge lanes in front of you because an emergency worker was roadside and you thought they were crazy for doing so, you are probably part of the 71% of Americans that are unaware of Slow Down or Move Over laws. These laws which are in all 50 states require that you merge into the other lane when passing any of the following vehicles when they are on the side of the road with their emergency flashers or lights on.

  • Tow trucks
  • Ambulances
  • Law enforcement

Somethings such as this should be common courtesy but it is also the law. Unfortunately, more than 200 people lose their lives annually after being struck by cars when working roadside. We hope that you will share this information with others so that they are also aware!
